Easy DIY Fairy Wands
Step 1
Trim sticks to your desired length & add a notch on one end. We used redbud branches from our front yard, trimmed to about 12-inches, then notched on top using a saw.

Step 2
Cutout stars & spray paint them. We used leftover cardboard and silver glitter paint. Why paint the stars? The star tips will most likely show at the end and, unless you don’t mind the cardboard showing through, now is the time to add paint.
Step 3
Use hot-glue to secure the star within the notch on the stick. I added a dab of the hot-glue, then slide the star into the notch. Allow the glue to cool between steps.

Step 4
Trim ribbons & secure to stars with hot-glue. Between 8 to 12-inches should be a good length for the ribbons. I liked mixing up the colors on each of the fairy wands to keep with the whimsical vibes of these magical accessories. Secure the ribbons with one end glued to around the middle of the star, just above where the stick attaches.
Step 5
Wrap stars with yarn. I used rainbow yarn so there would be a variety of wand colors! Start your yarn in the center of the star with some hot-glue just above the ribbons. Then begin wrapping around, and around, and around, until you feel like there is enough yarn on the star. Finish with a Poacher’s Knot at the base of the star, around the stick/handle. Add a dab of hot-glue to the knot, then tuck the yarn-end into the star.

Step 6
Add finishing details & enjoy! With a different yarn, I used a white and silver yarn, add a single star accent on top of the yarn-wrapped star. I also wanted the wand to make a sound when waved, so I added two little silver bells under the star. Please note these little bells can be a choking hazard. Finally, the wand handles needed a little flare, so I added some silver glitter spray paint there as well!
