Which wedding trends are growing in popularity, and are there any trends destined to continue through the New Year and beyond? These proposed 2025 Wedding Trends might surprise you!

A Brief History in Wedding Trends
Wedding trends can vary from year-to-year or even decade-to-decade, with the 1930s popularizing the all-white wedding cake and brides recreating Princess Diana’s dress from the 1980s. Although weddings began moving outside churches more regularly in the 1970s, the early 2000s saw an increase of weddings in non-religious locations, which also brought about the strapless wedding dress.

Jumping forward into the 2010s, wedding “themes” and personalization start to emerge, with couples eager to host the most unique nuptials. In 2011, New York State passed the Marriage Equality Act, legalized same-sex marriage in New York. Then in 2015, the Supreme Court’s decision in Obergefell v. Hodges established marriage equality as the law in the United States.

Today we can see a large variety of wedding trends on social media. There is everything from destination weddings to backyard receptions; Chapel ceremonies and mountain elopements. Below are my predictions for 2025 Wedding Trends.

Glass Atriums, Greenhouses & Conservatories – Top 2025 Wedding Trend
For this 2025 wedding trend, a picture is worth a thousand words. Wedding ceremonies and receptions within glass atriums, greenhouses and conservatories are stunning! Situate yourself in the beauty of nature paired with the comforts of an indoor setting. (No rain plan needed!) If hosting your event in Northern California, try reaching out to Hensley Event Resources for quotes on building one of these amazing structures for your wedding day.

Retro Glam Wedding Theme
Think vintage 1970s in Palm Springs with a modern flare! This theme features lots of color, like light green napkins and salmon pink plates. I like the look of a green table linen overlayed with floral embroidered lace, all topped with a retro-looking battery powered table lamp. Add in cane pillar candle holders, woven flower vases and rattan placemats for a “natural element” to the tablesetting. Cane backed chairs, colorful glassware and gold flatware complete the modern retro glam look!

High Design Micro Weddings
More people are opting for small weddings with a big design impact! Micro weddings may have less mouths to feed, but their budgets can match that of a wedding double in size. Think 50 guests or less, and all the bells and whistles.
Due to the gathering constraints of 2020, my husband and I had a micro wedding. We kept all the same design choices from when we had planned for 150 people. More on our wedding in this blog post!

Multi-Day Events
Along the same lines of the above mentioned Micro Wedding, multi-day events around the wedding day are growing in popularity. Destination weddings tend to heavily feature this wedding trend with their guests already having traveled a long distance to spend time with the newlyweds.
Encourage guests to attend pre-wedding festivities like a local excursion. Or host a morning after brunch or party at a brewery or winery. I had the pleasure of attending a wedding in Puerto Rico with a pre-wedding catamaran adventure and days spent at the beach. The fall wedding featured in this blog post hosted a day-after brewery lunch for any and all who could attend!

Interactive Guest Experiences
Audio Guestbook
Gone on the days of guestbooks made only of pen and paper. There have been many different variations on “the guestbook” but this new wedding trend is by far one of the most unique! With a fancy phone booth setup or rotary dial phone (like those offered by After The Tone), audio guestbooks are rising in popularity. Your guests get to record their well-wishes to you and your spouse on either a vinyl record or audio file, and you get to forever remember their voices.

Portrait Studios
It’s like having a photobooth, but instead of limited space and photo strip takeaway, there’s a professional photographer and frame-worthy portrait print available before you go home. They take care of staging the scene, posing your guests, editing the portraits on the spot, and printing photos for guests to take home that same night. Based in California, but willing to fly anywhere, is The Vanity Portrait Studio. Reach out to them for a quote on incorporating a portrait studio at your wedding reception!

Flower Bar
Using a stand, table or cart, “flower bars” offer an assortment of flowers and wrapping materials for guests to make their own bouquet. This wedding trend serves as beautiful ambiance, a fun guest experience and a wedding favor most of your guests will enjoy for days after the event!

Tattoo Artist
Okay, this might be a generational thing but I’ve read about a few weddings that featured this trend and this might be the year it takes off! Couples have brought in professional tattoo artists to be available for art applications throughout their receptions. Brides have gotten their wedding date tattooed on them right then and there to mark the special day!

Yard Games, Mini Golf & More!
Games have been a wedding trends for years now and I see this 2025 wedding trend continuing on for many more. Yard games like cornhole and giant Jenga are easy to set-up, and most guests already know how to play. Another I’ve seen trending lately, but requires a bit more effort, is mini golf! Having nine or more mini golf courses set-up can be a fun take on the classic yard game. Couples have also offered an assortment of board games for their guests to enjoy at their tables throughout the reception.

Conclusion
I hope there is something you were able to take away from these 2025 Wedding Trends. Remember to Pin this post for when you are ready for next steps.
